GUEST POST -- Attention DS Bloggers... Are you going to Orlando, FL?

(Monica here... I won't be at the NDSC Convention this year, but Kelli Goede of "Living Life with E's" is willing and ready to make some Blogger ID Badges for any bloggers going. It's a fun way to recognize each other and to meet up)

The National Down Syndrome Convention is fast approaching...July 16th-18th in Orlando, FL. I'll be there...will you?
Last year Monica over at Monkey Musings designed badges for all moms that attended and blog about their life with Down Syndrome so that everyone could be easily identified. This year, as she is expecting their 5th child (brave, brave woman)...she has passed the baton, to me! So, if you are attending and would like a badge, please let me know by commenting on this post or emailing me at livinglifewithes@yahoo.com .

I hope many of you do attend...I cannot wait to meet you and shake your hand...oh, who am I kidding, I would love to give you a big fat hug... you have become an extention of my family through your encouragement and support. I can't wait to see your smiling faces in person and tell you how much I appreciate you sharing your lives through your blogs.

If you haven't registered yet..make sure you hurry over to the website and do it now, you have to register before June 10th to get the early bird rate (it sounds like I am talking about a meal, doesn't it!). If you haven't decided whether or not you are going...well consider that it's in ORLANDO where there is always an abundance of sunshine and fun, especially for the kiddos!

I would like to make sure that everyone that plans on attending gets a badge so if you woudn't mind helping me spread the word, I would really appreciate you linking back to this post from your blog or mentioning it in some way so that I can make sure that all DS bloggers receive a badge if they want one.

DS Blogger ID Badges UPDATE

It's been 8 months since meeting so many wonderful families who have a child with Down syndrome at the NDSC Convention in Sacramento. I'm humbled and amazed at how many friendships have come from that one weekend, via Facebook and blogging. My 12 year old son, Nic, also met a lot of good buddies, both with and without Ds, through the Brothers and Sisters Conference.

This year will certainly be even more exciting, just because of the venue. Last year, I'd totally planned to attend the Conference again this year. BUT, with a new addition coming to our family in early June, those plans have been laid aside. I do, however, hope we can go next year. I've heard whisperings of the Convention coming to Denver, CO, in 2011, which would be closer for us.

That being said... because of the timing of Baby #5 arriving, I won't be able to make the DS Blogger ID Badges for this year's Convention. They were a great way to easily identify other bloggers in a sea of parents, children and self-advocates, and for us to gather for a luncheon. If anyone would like to take this on, that would be great.

New for 2010! Facebook ID Badge

Earlier this year, I had a couple people ask me to make ID badges for the NDSC Convention in Sacramento who weren't bloggers, but are on Facebook. In hindsight, I think it would've been a good idea to include Facebook users, too, since we "know" each other online and it'd be great to meet in person.

Some people have already signed up to go to the 2010 NDSC Convention in Orlando, FL. If you're one of them, let us know... we'll get to work so you can easily be identified as a DS Blogger or on Facebook.

DS Blogger Meet-up at NDSC Convention

Hi All,

I can't believe the Convention will be here this week in downtown Sacramento! DS Bloggers and their families are welcome to join us for a lunchtime meet-up on Saturday, July 31st from 12 to 1:30pm. We'll meet at the Registration Table and go from there.

If you're not on our list, and are just hearing about this, or registering late, please let us know so we have an idea of how many will join us. We'll walk to a local restaurant for lunch.
